Yeah, sitting on the lap of family is usually when there really is no other space to sit or when you want to annoy them, at least after a certain age. But then she would have sat on her brother's lap, not OPs husband's lap. I do think without the rest that shows how she was clearly flirting, the sitting on the lap thing could have been innocent.

She always complains, sends food back if it's not absolutely perfect, and makes needless requests/substitutions (she doesn't have allergies or sensitivities).
